In The News

The grass is always greener on the other side of the fence. In Amy Freeze’s case, the grass might be the same, but the view is certainly different.

Amy has joined Our Towns Habitat as the new Manager of Community & Faith Partnerships. Before joining Our Towns, Amy served 12 years in ministry as a pastor with the United Methodist Church. In her new role, instead of leading congregations, she will work with them and their pastors as they serve in the ministry of Habitat.

A group of Our Towns Habitat supporters are giving up the comforts of home this week to help Guatemalans have the comfort and security of their own home. This past Saturday, a team of 11 left for an 8-day mission trip to Antigua, where they are building a home for one Guatemalan family, as well as building latrines and smokeless stoves to improve housing conditions for other families.

Due to forecasted winter weather, builds at all Our Towns Habitat construction sites have been cancelled for Saturday, Jan. 7. The Our Towns office will close at 4 p.m. today, Jan. 6.

Decisions on ReStore closures for Saturday will be made by 7 a.m. that day and posted here, as well as on our social media channels.

A donation in honor or memory of a loved one can be a thoughtful alternative to traditional Christmas presents, and carry an impact that lasts long after the wrapping paper has all been cleaned up and decorations tucked back in storage for the year.

Our Towns Habitat for Humanity is pleased to announce a new online giving option that allows donors to select one of a variety of themed e-cards to send to a recipient of the donor’s choice, alerting them that a donation has been made in his/her name.

Card designs include holiday themes, but also offer options for other special occasions, including birthdays, graduations and memorials.

To make a tribute gift, simply complete the online donation form, select the card design of your choice, then enter your designee’s name, email and any personalized message you wish to send.
