About Our Homes

Our Towns Habitat for Humanity Sample

Each Habitat home is designed with quality, cost, energy efficiency and accessibility needs in mind.

Green Initiatives

We’re proud to build our homes to top energy-efficiency standards while also reducing waste and being environmentally friendly. How? Through our choice of construction materials, reconfiguration of our building plans to reduce waste, and continued research on updated materials and practices in home construction.

Energy Star — Each Habitat home is ENERGY STAR 3.0 certified. A new home that has earned the ENERGY STAR label has undergone a process of inspections, testing and verification to meet strict requirements set by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. ENERGY STAR-certified homes use 15-30% less energy than typical new homes, while delivering better comfort, quality and durability.

System Vision — Habitat homes are built to SystemVision™ standards. SystemVision™ provides training and technical support that leads to improved health, safety, durability, comfort and energy efficiency of affordable homes in North Carolina. It is based on finding practical solutions to aid affordable housing builders in the design, construction and certification of energy-efficient income-based housing.

LEED — Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design is helping to deliver energy and water-efficient, healthy, environmentally-friendly, cost-saving buildings, homes and communities. Our Towns Habitat has built two LEED homes, which earned Gold and Platinum certification levels.
