Habitat
Our Towns Habitat for Humanity, a non-denominational
Christian housing ministry, was founded in Davidson in 1988 after
a number of local residents participated in a Jimmy Carter Habitat
build in Charlotte and returned to Davidson filled with inspiration
to start a local Habitat affiliate. In 1988, the affiliate was called
Davidson Habitat for Humanity, and the focus was building in Davidson.
A Mooresville affiliate began in 1991 and was called Mooresville/Lake
Norman Habitat for Humanity, which built Habitat homes in Mooresville
and Huntersville. In 1996, Davidson Habitat for Humanity merged
with Mooresville/Lake Norman Habitat for Humanity and became Our
Towns Habitat for Humanity.
Today, Our Towns Habitat for Humanity funds and builds
Habitat homes in Mooresville, Davidson, Cornelius, and Huntersville.
In addition, every Habitat home funded locally is able to fund three Habitat homes in Guatemala through our Tithe program.
